It’s a well kept secret, summer in Kosciuszko National Park is magnificent. If you are an outdoors kind of person or someone that likes an adventure this is the place for you. Visiting Kosciuszko National Park is all about deciding what your next adventure in the snowy mountains is going to be. If you like wildflowers the show is just about to happen and there are many alpine flowers up here that you won’t see other places.

One of the most popular excursions is to stand on the top of Australia. It’s a 10km cycle, walk or run from Charlotte Pass. You can do it day or night. When we do it at night under the full moon we call it lunacy. Ebikes are easy to hire in Jindabyne that make the trip easy and adds a new dimension of fun. Charlotte Pass is also the start of the majestic Blue Lake Walk. Described by some as one of the world’s best hikes, Blue Lake is one of Australia’s few glacial lakes and you can view some of the highest mountains in Australia on this 10km walk.

If hiking is your adventure we can show you some awesome tracks with great views, waterfalls or with opportunities to meet the local wildlife. We have walks that take 1/2 hour and others that take all day…it’s your choice. The new Snowies Iconic walk is taking shape, the section from Guthega to Charlotte Pass is due to open before Christmas.

If cycling is more your liking the big decision is whether to bring your road bike or mountain bike. This area is awesome for both. You may have already seen the Sponars Six Days of Bike Adventures in the Snowy Mountains ebook of our favourite rides in the area but there are more, just let us know what you are looking for. One of the things I love doing is cycling to a mountain hut. There are several in the area and they make a great stopping point for lunch or a snack. Every hut has its own unique story and they now act as a shelter for bushwalkers, cyclists or skiers.

The smooth Kosciuszko Road creates a unique challenge for any road cyclist. The road is good, there is minimal summer traffic and the climbs are epic. Road riding in the Snowy Mountains is breathtaking, challenging and definitely creates a strava moment.

Then there is cold water swimming. You don’t need to fill the bath with ice cubes here. The alpine pools are crisp and relaxing after a big adventurous day. We have 4 natural pools close by for you to dive into. If Diggers Creek in front of the hotel is your choice we have some paddle boards, a pontoon and a canoe to add to the fun. If you would like to try the new Mantas, fliteboards or a sailing boat they are available to hire on Jindabyne Lake.

If this all sounds too adventurous or fast paced that’s ok too. There is plenty of opportunity to relax in nature and maybe just do very little so that you can recharge your batteries and return home vital and energised.

We are here to help you to discover more about our back garden, send us an email, give us a ring and we’ll do our best to help you plan your adventure. We have introduced a new room fee structure in January to help fit in with your plans. Check it out on our website www.sponars.com.au
